Dallas Overview
Dallas, Texas is a destination rich in educational and performance opportunities for student groups. The city’s cultural heritage is showcased in its numerous museums and cultural centers, including the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. These institutions offer students the opportunity to explore the visual arts, learn about history, and experience the cultural offerings of the city. Dallas is also home to a thriving performing arts scene, with numerous theaters, concert halls, and music venues, including the AT&T Performing Arts Center and the Music Hall at Fair Park. These venues host a wide range of performances and even offer educational programs and events, including workshops and masterclasses with visiting artists.
Student bands, orchestras, choirs, and other musical performance groups can benefit from a trip to Dallas in a variety of ways. Live shows at venues such as the AT&T Performing Arts Center and the Meyerson Symphony Center can provide inspiration for young performers and demonstrate the dramatic effect of flawless execution. Organizations such as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra offer clinics and masterclasses where students can interact with renowned professionals and receive feedback. Venues such as Keller Theatre, Klyde Warren Park, and Sammon Center for the Arts host student performances (select locations also include one or more rehearsal sessions). Student performers are welcomed to showcase their talent for the public at the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens and Dallas Farmers Market. Last but not least, the city of Dallas has a jam-packed schedule of music festivals, parades, and competitions happening nearly every month of the year that offer students a chance to really put their hard work on display.
Other attractions visitors will enjoy include Reunion Tower, which offers a next-level view of the Dallas skyline. Reunion Tower’s observation deck offers a complete 360-degree view of the city from 470 feet above street level. You’ll want to make sure your students have time to explore at least part of the enormous Dallas Arts District, which is home to numerous galleries, theaters, and performance spaces. For those interested in science and technology, the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is a must-visit attraction. The museum features interactive exhibits and displays on topics like energy, earth sciences, and engineering.
