Upon arrival in Washington D.C., you’ll meet your Tour Manager and head straight to explore the Museum of Natural History, the most visited natural history museum in the world! The museum’s collections total over 126 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites, and human cultural artifacts.
After lunch, you head to the Holocaust Museum and visit the Daniel’s Story Exhibit where you can learn about the Holocaust from the perspective of a child. This exhibit presents the history of the Holocaust in ways that children can understand.
Next, you’ll explore one of the newest Smithsonian museums, the Museum of African American History and Culture. It is a place of meaning, of memory, of reflection, of laughter, and of hope full of incredible artifacts and archival documents.
After dinner tonight, you’ll take an evening walking ghost tour through Old Town Alexandria. You will hear the legends, folklore and ghost stories of this charming and spooky town!
After breakfast, it’s time for a selfie at the White House followed by a guided tour. The White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States. You’ll have a chance to see the North Front of the White House from Lafayette Park where you can take photos and enjoy the view.
After walking the most influential halls of our nation, you’ll meet in front of the Capitol Building for a professional group photo. A copy of the photo will be given to each person on the trip.
Then you’ll visit the Supreme Court. If time permits and lectures are available, you may see a 25 minute docent lecture in the courtroom about the judicial branch of our government and the role of the Supreme Court.
Next, you’ll enter one of the most magnificent buildings in Washington as you visit the Library of Congress on Capitol Hill. You’ll have some time to admire the architecture and peek into the main reading room.
After lunch, you’ll visit the Capitol Building where you will see the visitors center and exhibits about the legislative branch of our government. You will then see a short film about the Capitol before taking a guided tour into the rotunda.
This afternoon, you’ll have the FBI Experience, a self-guided tour at the FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Along the way, there are interactive multimedia exhibits, content, and artifacts—including a number of items from notable cases on display for the very first time—that help illustrate the importance of the Bureau’s work to protect the nation. You’ll learn how the Bureau operates in the field, at Headquarters, and within communities across the country. You’ll also gain a rare look inside the organization’s investigative divisions, laboratory resources, professional occupations, and more. The rich experience tells the story of the FBI’s internal operations and history, as well as how its cooperation with local, state, federal, and international partners helps further its unique national security and law enforcement mission.
Before dinner, you’ll visit the Museum of American History. The Museum collects and preserves more than 3 million artifacts—all true national treasures. You’ll be able to view everything from the original Star-Spangled Banner and Abraham Lincoln’s top hat to Dizzy Gillespie’s angled trumpet and Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. The collections form a fascinating mosaic of American life and comprise the greatest single collection of American history.
After dinner, you’ll take a guided tour of the Memorials, including visits to the World War II Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and the Korean War Memorial.
After breakfast this morning, you’ll continue your guided tour of the Memorials including visits to the FDR Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.
After lunch, you’ll visit Arlington National Cemetery, the largest military cemetery in our nation. Here you’ll take a tour and see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Changing of the Guard Ceremony, the Challenger Memorial and the Kennedy Gravesite.
