Daily Itinerary
Upon your arrival in Gettysburg, you’ll meet your Tour Manager at the Gettysburg Visitor Center where you’ll have free time for lunch.
After lunch, you’ll see the Cyclorama, Film and Museum Experience at the center includes the film narrated by Morgan Freeman, A New Birth of Freedom (sponsored by The History Channel); the massive Cyclorama painting, which literally surrounds visitors with a magnificent visual of the fury of Pickett’s Charge, and the Gettysburg Museum of the American Civil War, featuring 12 exhibit galleries that contain artifacts and interactive displays.
You’ll take a two hour guided tour of the battlefield. Fought during the first three days of July 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg was one of the most crucial battles of the Civil War having occurred at a time when the fate of the nation literally hung in the balance.
After dinner, you’ll experience the darker side of Gettysburg on this ghost tour. In the years since the battle, scores of sightings, stranger than reality, have emerged from the quaint houses and gentle fields in and around the town of Gettysburg: sightings of these soldiers, moving again in battle lines, across the fields where they once marched. . . and died; tales of visions through a rip in time into the horrible scene of a Civil War hospital; whispers of a look at men long dead held eternally captive by duty. These apparitions -and more- come back to remind us, in one way or another that they are not to be forgotten for what they did here. . . Find out all about it on your ghost tour!
After breakfast, you’ll check out of your rooms and board your bus for the day.
You may know what happened on the battlefield but what about the civilians living near by? You’ll visit the Shriver House Museum where you’ll take a guided tour of the Shriver Family’s restored 1860 home to learn about that side of the story. You’ll connect to the past while you listen to the story of George, Hettie, Sadie (7) and Mollie (5) unfold as you move from room to room to appreciate what life was like before, during, and after the Civil War.
You’ll visit Beyond The Battle Museum where you’ll hear the remarkable story from ordinary eyewitnesses and their extraordinary experiences before, during, and after the Civil War. Through twelve interactive exhibit galleries packed with rare artifacts, the museum explores the story of Gettysburg like you’ve never seen or heard it before. Caught in the Crossfire, the museum’s premier exhibit, is an immersive experience that uses cutting-edge technology to place visitors inside a meticulously reconstructed farmhouse during the Battle of Gettysburg. You will see, hear, and feel what it was like for one Gettysburg family to be overrun by invading forces and trapped behind enemy lines.
After lunch, you’ll begin your drive to Lancaster.
You’ll enjoy a narrated buggy ride in Lancaster’s Amish Country.
You’ll have the full Amish experience today! You’ll see Jacob’s Choice in a state-of-the-art theatre where you’ll learn the story of an Amish teenager who is experiencing the generation gap with his family. You’ll see his emotional struggle as he chooses between a life of his traditional Amish values and the allure of the modern world. You’ll then continue to the Amish Country Homestead where you’ll visit an authentic home with interpreters to answer your questions about the Amish. You’ll end your touring with a guide aboard your coach and tour of the Amish countryside. You will pass by one-room schools, Amish people working in the fields with horses and the local shops. In the evening you’ll enjoy Pennsylvania Dutch cooking at the Plain and Fancy Farm.
Rising improbably out of the rolling corn fields of Amish country, the giant white dome waits to thrill travelers with a world of high-tech fun! Don’t miss the multi-level alien spaceship laser tag arena, the huge prize arcade featuring a high-tech laser maze or the world-famous laser shows.
You’ll arrive at your hotel and check in.
After breakfast, you’ll check out of your rooms and depart for Hershey Park.
You’ll spend the day at one America’s favorite theme parks! Packed with 11 thrilling coasters, 20+ rides for kids, live entertainment, and nine water-play attractions, Hersheypark is too much happy for just one day!
