Daily Itinerary

1

Welcome to New York City! Upon arrival, you will meet your Tour Manager and drive into the heart of Manhattan.

This afternoon you will meet with the Arts for Autism Creative Team and have an individual 90-minute rehearsal session just for your performing group.

After dinner, You’ll see From Main Street To 42nd Street, a forty-five minute one-woman show that tells the story of a young performer’s journey to get to New York City and become a professional actress starring our Arts for Autism Artistic Director! The program ends with a Q&A session with the artist.

2

After breakfast you’ll have a morning rehearsal. All of the groups will be together this morning working with the Director, Broadway Music Director, and Artistic Director. We will stage the opening and closing numbers and really start to see the show come together!

After lunch this afternoon, you will head back to the theatre district to see the current Broadway show running on the very same stage you will be performing on the next day. For example, if the show is at the New Amsterdam Theatre, you will see Aladdin. Have fun imagining yourselves on that very stage!

You will enjoy dinner at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, where the wait staff will entertain you as they sing popular show tunes while serving you dinner. (depending on availability)

After dinner, you’ll get a chance to appreciate the city on a new level: from the top floor of the Rockefeller Center. The Top of the Rock observation deck offers a spectacular, unobstructed 360 degree view of the Manhattan skyline from the 70th floor.

3

After breakfast, you’ll attend an orientation at the theater where you will be performing. While technicians work on lighting and sound, you’ll hear about the schedule for the day and begin to prepare for the afternoon rehearsal. You will also have an opportunity to walk the stage and traffic patterns for the show.

After lunch, everyone will participate in a full technical dress rehearsal. During the afternoon, all student groups will come together with Broadway cast members for one final rehearsal. Students will rehearse their own piece as well as get the opportunity to observe the planning and collaboration between the other student groups, Broadway actors, directors, music directors, choreographers, lighting and sound designers.

Enjoy dinner tonight with the other performing groups. Mingle with actors and dancers from around the US before the big night.

After dinner, it’s showtime! You will return to the theater and perform in the evening’s Arts For Autism benefit concert. Your group will perform its own number, perform in the opening number and finale, and get to watch some of Broadway’s biggest stars in this inspiring evening!

4

After breakfast this morning, you’ll have a chance to visit The Museum of Broadway. Newly opened in 2022, The Museum of Broadway is an interactive and experiential museum that celebrates Broadway’s rich history. See hundreds of rare costumes, props and artifacts up close and experience Broadway like never before.

Next, you’ll participate in your final Broadway workshop. Learn the music and lyrics to a Broadway show and have time to reflect on your experience performing last night!

You’ll have lunch and have time to explore the Drama Bookshop and free time in Times Square before you begin your trip home.
